Ohio Flooring Experts has refinished hardwood floors for Rocky River homeowners since 2002. Refinishing is what we focus on. We also repair and install hardwood when that's what a project calls for, but sanding and refinishing existing floors is the core of what we do.

Every job starts the same way: we come to your home, look at the wood, note the condition of the finish, check for damaged boards, and figure out how the connected rooms flow together. From there we write up a proposal covering the scope, the finish system, and any limitations we can already see before sanding begins.

If your floor has worn traffic paths near doorways, a dull or scratched finish, or a stain color that's faded unevenly, refinishing usually brings it back without needing a full floor replacement. The process is sanding down to bare wood, addressing any repairs, applying stain or a natural finish, then sealing it with a professional-grade polyurethane.
There are limits. Deep water damage, dark stains that have penetrated the wood, or severe cupping may not fully disappear with sanding alone, and in those cases we'll tell you before starting rather than promising a result we can't deliver.
Our sanders connect to a dust-containment system that captures most of what's created during sanding, and we section off the work area with plastic sheeting where it makes sense. It's not a dust-free process, but it's noticeably cleaner than sanding without containment.
This mattered directly on a recent Rocky River job. In fall 2025, a family asked us to pull up old bedroom carpeting and refinish the hardwood underneath, since one of their children has a dust allergy and carpet wasn't an option. We refinished all of the bedrooms with our dust-containment setup running the whole time, and the family was glad to see how little dust it actually produced.

A natural finish keeps the grain front and center. A stain changes the room's overall tone and can be matched to cabinets, trim, or furniture already in the space. We bring a color gallery to the estimate and can test finalist colors directly on your sanded floor before you commit.
We also repair cracked, water-damaged, or missing boards, and we install solid and engineered hardwood for rooms that need more than refinishing can offer. These aren't our primary focus, but they're available if your project calls for them.
Always. Pricing is based on the actual condition of your floor, not a phone estimate.
Yes, in most cases, though stairs take more hand work than open floor space and are priced separately.
Refinishing restores your existing hardwood. Installation is for adding new flooring, either replacing a damaged floor beyond repair or extending hardwood into a new area. We'll tell you which one fits your situation.
