Ohio Flooring Experts refinishes hardwood floors for homeowners throughout Lakewood, Ohio. We also handle repairs and new installations, but refinishing is where most of our Lakewood work happens, and it's the service we're built around.
Lakewood's older housing stock means a lot of original hardwood is still under old finishes, and much of it can be brought back rather than replaced. We look at the floor first, then recommend whether sanding and refinishing, spot repair, or a new stain color makes sense for the space.
We've worked in the Cleveland area since 2002.

Most of our calls in Lakewood start with a floor that's lost its shine, has visible wear paths, or has been covered by carpet for years. Here's what we handle:
● Hardwood floor refinishing (our main focus)
● Sanding and stain color changes
● Natural finish restoration
● Board repair and replacement
● Hardwood installation, when a full replacement makes more sense than refinishing
We give you a written estimate that lays out the scope, the finish system, and anything that might affect the outcome, before any sanding starts.

Refinishing solves most of what we see in Lakewood homes: scratches, dull or cloudy finish, faded color, uneven sheen, and general wear from years of use. Sanding removes the old finish and surface damage, then we apply a fresh stain (or a natural finish) and a professional-grade polyurethane topcoat.
Not everything comes out through sanding. Deep pet damage, long-term water exposure, or discoloration that's soaked into the wood may need board replacement instead of just refinishing. We'll tell you upfront if that's the case rather than after the sanding starts.
Sanding always produces some dust, but our equipment connects to a professional containment system that captures most of it as it's created. In older Lakewood homes with connected room layouts, we also use plastic sheeting to keep the work area separated from the rest of the house.
Some homeowners want to keep the wood's original character; others want a new color to match updated cabinets, trim, or furniture. Either way, we bring a stain color gallery to the estimate, and once the floor is sanded, we can test a few candidate colors directly on the wood so you're not guessing from a screen or a small sample chip.
If a section of flooring is cracked, water-damaged, or missing, we can usually repair it as part of the refinishing project so the whole area matches. For rooms that need more than repair, we also install solid and engineered hardwood, matched as closely as possible to what's already in the house.

"In May 2026, we refinished the living room floor for a young couple in Lakewood. They wanted to move away from the dated, reddish-yellow tone left by the old finish and refresh the worn surface at the same time. The result was a completely different room, same floor."
Yes. We come out, look at the floor, and give you a written proposal with pricing before any work begins.
Often, yes. Hardwood under carpet is usually protected from UV fading and surface wear, which can make it a good refinishing candidate. We'd need to see it to confirm the wood is in usable condition.
Yes. Refinishing includes the option to change stain color, not just restore the existing finish
Clear furniture and rugs from the work area, and plan for limited access to the room while the finish dries.

If your floors look tired but the wood underneath is still solid, refinishing is usually the more affordable path compared to full replacement. Reach out and we'll take a look.
