If your hardwood floor is scratched, faded, or just looks tired, refinishing is usually the fix, not replacement. Ohio Flooring Experts has refinished hardwood floors for
Broadview Heights homeowners since 2002. We also repair damaged boards and install new hardwood, but refinishing existing floors is what we do most and what we're best at.

Most of the calls we get from Broadview Heights start with one of these:
● Scratches or scuffs that catch the light
● A finish that's gone dull, cloudy, or yellowed
● A worn path near the front door, kitchen, or stairs
● A stain color that no longer matches updated cabinets or trim
● A floor that's been hidden under carpet and hasn't been seen in years
If any of that sounds like your floor, there's a good chance sanding and refinishing will bring it back without tearing anything out.

We start with an in-person inspection, not a phone estimate. We look at the wood species, the current finish, any damaged boards, and how the rooms connect to each other, since flooring that runs continuously between spaces usually needs to be refinished as one project rather than room by room.
From there: sanding down to bare wood, edge work along walls and corners, a final fine sanding pass, any approved board repairs, then your choice of stain color or a natural finish, sealed with a professional-grade polyurethane topcoat. Sanding does produce dust, but our equipment connects to a dust-containment system that captures most of it, and we use plastic sheeting to keep it out of the rest of your home.
Sanding removes surface-level damage, but it has limits. Deep pet stains, long-term water damage, and dark discoloration that's soaked into the wood grain often need board replacement rather than just refinishing. We'll point this out during the estimate so there are no surprises once work starts.

A natural finish keeps the wood looking like itself, just cleaner and sealed. A new stain color can shift the whole room, especially if you're trying to match newer cabinets, trim, or furniture. We bring color samples to the estimate, and once your floor is sanded, we can test the top choices right on the wood so you're not guessing from a screen.
Cracked boards, water damage, or a section that's missing entirely can usually be repaired and blended into the surrounding refinished floor. And if a room needs more than repair can offer, either because too much of the floor is damaged or you're adding hardwood somewhere new, we install solid and engineered hardwood too. These aren't our main focus, but they're there if your project needs them.

"In April 2026, a teacher in Broadview Heights called us about large gaps that had opened up between the planks in her living room. The cause turned out to be improper installation by another company, not normal wear. Rather than refinish over the problem, we removed the old flooring and reinstalled it correctly so the gaps wouldn't come back."
Yes. We inspect the floor in person and give you written pricing before anything starts.
Not necessarily. Light staining often sands out. Deep or long-standing water damage may need board replacement first. We'll know once we look at it.
Often, yes, though stairs take more detailed hand work than open floor space, so they're priced as their own line item.

A tired floor usually doesn't need to be replaced. In most cases, refinishing gets you there for less.
